AzDA's Dental Day at the Capitol, Feb 13, 2013
Arizona Dental Association’s strength is in its members. Join us for “Dental Day at the Capitol,” an opportunity for you to talk one on one to your legislator and express your opinions on an array of legislation affecting access to care, oral health, and dental practice issues. Dental students from both dental schools will be joining us and will be will be partnered with at least one dentist. Continental breakfast and a boxed lunch will be provided, and the day will conclude by early afternoon.
Educate our lawmakers as you become their source on what’s important to the dental community, what’s affecting your business and advancing the oral health of all Arizonans.

Reinstatement of AHCCCS Adult Emergency Dental Benefit
AzDA to partner with Arizona Association of Community Health Centers in seeking reinstatement of the AHCCCS Adult Emergency Dental Benefit. Reinstatement will put over $20 million back into dentist’s offices and community clinics where patients can get proper care instead of going to hospital emergency rooms.
Abolish Use Tax on Clear Aligner products
Change the law to make it clear that all orthodontic appliances should be classified as “prosthetic devices” and should be exempt from use tax.
Business Entities: Unethical Conduct
Add a new category of “unethical conduct” to give BODEX the authority to charge a business entity for interfering in the professional judgment of a licensee.
No Age Limit on Retired status
Remove the requirement that a dentist be over 65 in order to get a “Retired” license.
Support for BODEX Initiatives
We will be working with BODEX to support some of their initiatives, especially one that would establish a “statute of Limitations” for complaints that will be tied to the period of time that dentists are required to maintain records, which currently is six years. Clarify issues of informed consent for procedures performed by mobile dentistry providers.
